The Shy Chef

Style:
chef style

More:
a secret private restaurant in a flat, ran by a married couple that cooks to not more than six guests.

Reviews:
The I Heart Berlin blog people have gone to the shy chef: "Our hosts, a Swedish/Irish couple, served us our dinner in 6 courses, every one of them accompanied by an exquisite wine. Every dish looked more delicately arranged than the other and all of them easily qualified as Gourmet Cuisine. In the end they asked us, which meal we liked best. But I could hardly decide, was it the goat cheese salad, the pork filet rolled up in prosciutto or the nut brownie on vanilla creme with hot raspberries? Hm… I just know one thing for sure:I could eat like this every day."

Tian Fu

Style:
Chinese (Szechuan cuisine)

More:

Reviews:
On Qype, a reviewer (in German) recommends the restaurant as an "authentic" Sichuan restaurant, to the extent that his two companions, visitors from China, have said that the food is "just like home". Don't be confused by the exterior, so the reviewer, on the other hand, which is a put off and looks like a cheap westrenised Chinese restaurant.

Tele Cafe

Style:
German, Cafe

More:
The revolving cafe/restaurant in the Television Tower

Reviews:
One doesn't come to the Tele Cafe for the food, and quite honestly, if it was on the grounds, and not so high up there, it might not have been worth mentioning (although it is not a bad restaurant, and for a restaurant that attracts almost exclusively tourists, it is not terribly expensive either; to the price, however, you have to add the 8.50 it takes to come up the Television Tower).

Some other reviews: A "Been There" user writes: "The TV Tower (Fernsehturm) was built in the late 1960s and features a spherical revolving restaurant and viewing gallery at the top. The period decor and fittings were still intact when I visited in 2001, and hopefully this is still the case! The food is good too. Ideal for Saturday lunch before a walk around the city."

Accessible? No. Unfortunately, wheel chair users are banned from the Television Tower altogether, because the lifts cannot be used in case of fire emergency (and you don't want to imagine how many stairs are involved...)

Tiergarten Quelle

Style:
German/Berlin Cuisine

More:
Affordable students restaurant with good German and local (Berlin) cuisine

Reviews:
"Yuri" writes on her blog: " The Tiergarten Quelle is this great restaurant located underneath the S-Bahn train tracks. It’s very close to the station, which made it really easy to find and you can hear the trains traveling above.[...] The food was delicious." (she wonders what she had - it looks like pork schnitzel with brocolli and chips to my untrained eye).

Jane writes in her blog: "
It was a hole in the wall place under the subway, but inside was fantastic. Although very tiny, it was packed with people, clearly a popular hang out for regulars. A traveling band (a violin player, a bass player, and an accordion player) entered and played a few songs. We all got traditional (very heavy) German food, washed down with traditional (very good) beer."
